The memorial statue for the German soldiers of the Baltic division (Der Ost-See Division), who took part in the battle of Lahti 19th April, 1918 and later. There are 73 Germans soldiers buried in the old cemetery (Vanha hautausmaa) in Lahti. The city council organised in 1918 fundraising for the families and orphans of the deceased.
