Au-dessus du portrait identification et date Béthune avec le nom de Boukinkan (déformation de Buckingham très fréquente en France à cette époque, avec l’orthographe Bouquinquant). En hautà dr. deux lignes grattées et presque illisibles, mais où l’on peut encore lire de la main de Daniel Dumonsier: fait le…./….par D…. ; au-dessous, au crayon noir ancien n° 132 de la BSG BNF, Est., Na 24, res., f°13.
