Summary

Description
English: Plate XXVIII from The Geology of the Richmond Basin published by USGS, which has the following caption:
Bowlder of fine conglomerate in basal Newark beds, western border (of Richmond Basin), south of Mosley Junction.
The text of the report refers to the figure as follows:
Near the base of the Newark, at the western margin, south of Mosley Junction, where the beds turn westward on the Irwin Bass place, there is a small pothole or channel eroded in the red shales and filled with gray sands marking an unconformity. In a succeeding layer of the red shale is a 10-inch bowlder of the coarse sandstone derived from the erosion of the pebble beds already laid down in the basin (see Pl. XXVIII).
