Summary

Description
English: Sidney Sherman commanded the second regiment of volunteers at San Jacinto battle for Texas Independence from Mexico. He was the first to sound the immortal war cry opening the battle - "Remember the Alamo, Remember Goliad." He was a member of the Congress of the Texas Republic 1842, 1843, 1846. He commandant Port of Galveston CSA 1861, 1862. He was the father of the railroads in Texas. The monument, created for the 1936 Texas Centennial stands in the middle of Broadway in Galveston, Texas, United States. Statue scuplted by Gaetano Cecere.
