Summary

Description
English: Gender stated in user preferences of newly registered accounts on the English Wikipedia, January/February 2011. A line graph with three lines: Unspecified oscillating at 5000 registrations per day, Male at 260 per day, and Females at 60 per day. Text overlaid in the gap reads:
"About 5,300 accounts are registered every day. Only 37% make an edit afterwards in any namespace. Males (31%) are less likely to edit afterwards than females (33%)."
A mark placed on January 31 indicates the non-impact of the related New York Times article.
