Description
English: Resting �off-site� at Section A, Grave 279, at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery in San Diego, is Gen. Holland �Howlin� Mad� Smith, commander of Marine forces during the battle of Iwo Jima and viewed by many as the father of Marine Corps amphibious warfare. Smith�s grave is located somewhat inconspicuously near the USS Bennington Monument.
