Description

Portrait of Garcilaso de la Vega, nephew of the Spanish Renaissance poet who had the same name, and son of the poet's brother, Pedro Lasso. Frequently mistaken for his uncle.

Retrato de Garcilaso de la Vega por Manuel Salvador Carmona, editado por Joaquín Ibarra, 1770. El retrato se basa en un óleo conservado en la catedral de Toledo (Cervantes virtual) utilizado luego por José Maea y Bartolomé Vázquez, discípulo de Carmona, para el retrato de Garcilaso incorporado a la serie de los Retratos de los españoles ilustres. El retratado en la catedral toledana, origen de los demás, sin embargo, no parece ser el poeta sino su sobrino.
