GORDON DFC, OF RALEIGH, NSW, STUDIES HIS CHARTS JUST BEFORE THE TAKE OFF AS THE VETERAN RAAF LANCASTER "G FOR GEORGE" OF NO. 460 SQUADRON RAAF, SETS OFF ON THE 1300 MILE FLIGHT FROM PRESTWICK AERODROME, TO AUSTRALIA VIA CANADA AND THE UNITED STATES".
Comment : the photographer is looking forward from behind the main wing spar.
