English: An image from the book Geschichte der Ungarischen Freiheitskampfes in den Jahren 1848-1849 by András Vargyas (Publ. by Gusztáv Heckenast, Pest 1869, pp. 441). The image is depicting Görgei leading the Hussars charge in the battle of Komárom from 2 July 1849, trying to make a sign to his officers with his hat, before he was wounded. The image shows that wrong theory that he was cut by an enemy (or Hungarian) soldier. The reality is that he was injuried on his head by an enemy projectile shot from their guns. |
