Summary

Description
English: This undated aerial photo, likely made by the U.S. Army in about 1940, looks southeasterly across the mortar pits at Ft. Banks. Btty Kellogg Pit A is at upper left and Btty Lincoln Pit B is at lower right. This photo shows the original height of the earthworks on top of the magazines of the mortar batteries. This cover was almost completely peeled away after WW2. Also visible are the fire control buildings atop the central E-W earthworks and the covered walkways leading from the pits of Btty Lincoln to its flank magazines. The area at lower left of the image is now occupied by the Winthrop Dept. of Public Works
Source This image was obtained from the U.S. National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) by the Coast Defense Study Group (CDSG) and was disseminated by CDSG on disk as image No. B17196004. It has been cropped and re-sized by the contributor.
