Summary

Description
English: This image shows a standard gauge engine pulling freight and a passenger/baggage car on the Prince Edward Island Railway in the area of Maple Hill in the spring of 1949. The move to standard gauge allowed the use of full-sized locomotives like this 2-6-2 example. With their introduction, the bridge in Charlottetown was too small to safely carry large engines of this size, and the branch to Murray Harbour was cut just south of the city. The line through Maple Hill, the "Short Line", reconnected the branch.
