Summary

Description
English: Fred Ribe describes Scyllac concept using a blackboard. The diagram on the right shows the basic idea behind the Meyer and Schmidt solution to stability; making the inner part of the torus "wavy" causes the total length to be longer, as long as the outer part of the torus. This means a particle travels the same total length if it is on the inner or outer side of the torus, a primary consideration for plasma stability.
