Description

Postcard photo of rough sea at Herne Bay, Kent, England. It shows a grounded barge near the beach and a ketch heading out to sea, and the title on the photo is "'Rescued', Herne Bay Aug 08". The photographer was Fred C. Palmer of Tower Studio, Herne Bay, Kent, who is believed to have died 1936-1939. There is no border on this photograph.

The stamp and postmark have been removed from the reverse, but the letter on the back was apparently written in the same year. Ethel writes to her mother Mrs Green in Bournemouth, Hampshire, saying, "Will write you a letter in the morning and tell you all about this wreck. It was anchored just outside our shop. It's awfully rough again today."
