Minter Field, Bakersfield, CA. Cadet Francisco Mercado, Jr. first flew the BT-13A on November 4, 1942. His flight instructor was Lt. Ratliff. He soloed on November 14, 1942. The BT-13A had a 450 horsepower Pratt & Whitney "Wasp" engine.
