English: Portion of the front page of the first issue of El Universal, Mexico's oldest currently running newspaper, published on October 1, 1916. The top headlines address the "pacification" of the country by the Constitutional Army under the command of Venustiano Carranza, during the Mexican Revolution, United States President Woodrow Wilson refusing to use the United States Army to protect American interests in Mexico, and a Japanese Legation.
