DescriptionFragment of Pillar V of Las Incantadas Thessaloniki Archaeological Museum Greece 02.jpg
English: Fragment from a pillar of Las Incantadas, a group of marble reliefs from Roman Thessalonica. It is generally accepted that this is a fragment from a ninth sculpture of the lost fifth pillar of the colonnade. The figure has been identified as Nike due to the hairstyle and the fragmentary wing next to the head, identical to the Nike relief of Pillar 1 of Las Incantadas. The identicalness of the two sculptures however has led to a second possibility; that this fragment is in fact the original head of Nike from Pillar 1 which was broken off during the removal of Las Incantadas of Salonica (as Emmanuel Miller, who removed them, admits that Pillar 1 was damaged and a piece was broken off, though insisting that the relief itself was not damaged) and possibly restored in France to hide the fact.
