English: "Etching of 1818. Measurement of the playing surface 19 x 26.5 cm. Show the Arethusa in the city of Syracuse in Sicily. The press comes from the opera "Antiquities of Sicily" containing plates engraved by Bartolomeo Pinelli and drawn by John Goldicutt. The work was published in London in 1819. The print is in good condition, only some slight halo on margins. Engraved daBartolomeo Pinelli. Painter, draftsman, engraver and modeller. Born in Rome on November 20, 1781, he died in Rome on April 1st 1835. He began his studies at the Academy of St. Luke and them continues to Bologna where he became famous quickly. He returned to Rome and began to produce a significant amount of drawings and prints. It provides illustrations for the works of Virgil, Dante, Tasso, Cervantes and 'Aretino. In 1809 published the first "Collection of colorful costumes" made up of 50 tables which followed other collections always on the customs of Rome and numerous other works. Pinelli for his work may be considered: "the painter of the Roman people." (Auto translated from Italian: "Fonte Aretusa a Siracusa. Bella e rara incisione all'acquaforte del 1818. Nato a Roma il 20 Novembre 1781, morto a Roma il 1 Aprile 1835. Inizia i suoi studi all’Accademia di S. Luca e li continua a Bologna dove diviene famoso velocemente. Ritorna a Roma ed inizia a produrre una notevole quantità di disegni e stampe. Fornisce le illustrazioni per le opere di Virgilio, Dante, Tasso, Cervantes e dell’ Aretino. Nel 1809 pubblica la prima “Raccolta di costumi pittoreschi”composta da 50 tavole cui seguirono altre raccolte sempre sui costumi di Roma e numerosissime altre opere. Pinelli per il suo lavoro può essere considerato : “il pittore del popolo romano”."
