DescriptionForres railway station 2111127 b240c9f4.jpg
English: Forres Station, with an old Highland Railway locomotive on an express to Inverness.
View eastward, towards Elgin and Aberdeen: an Aberdeen to Inverness express is leaving, headed by an ex-Highland 'Clan Goods' 4-6-0 No. 17956 - perhaps unusually, for even in those days the Stanier 'Black Fives' were predominant. This was a triangular station, with platforms on the lines south to Aviemore via Dava (closed 18/10/65) as well as the Elgin - Inverness lines.
