English: This is the former Savannah Consolidated School, located at Savannah, North Carolina along US Highway 441 south of Dillsboro, North Carolina. The school was the result of consolidation of schools at East Fork, Gay, Greens Creek, View Point, and Zion Hill. The school was constructed circa 1940, likely with assistance from the New Deal-era Public Works Administration, whom also assisted in construction on the campus of nearby Western Carolina University in Cullowhee during the same time frame. The school was expanded in the mid-1950s with the addition of a classroom wing on the south side of the original building due to an increase in enrollment. However, a subsequent decrease in enrollment in the 1960s and 1970s led to the school's closure and consolidation with Sylva Elementary School and Webster Elementary School in 1973, forming Fairview Elementary School. Since that time, the building has been home to various businesses, most recently an antique mall, with the American Museum of the House Cat taking up residence in the southern wing of the building in 2017.
