BUFFALO of fbis debt $3,754,382 is for water bonds, onwhich an income is earned. The city expensesare some $6,000,000 a year. The post-office re-ceipts are over $1,000,000 yearly, and the inter-nal-revenue receipts about $2,000,000. There arenine banks of discount (five national), withabout $8,000,000 capital and surplus and$45,000,000 deposits; two trust companies, with•$1,400,000 capital and surplus; and four sav-ings banks, with over $35,000,000 deposits and$6,000,000 surplus. Churches.— Buffalo is the seat of a RomanCatholic and of an Episcopal bishop, and hastwo handsome and impressive cathedrals; theCatholic cathedral being a Gothic structure ofblue stone trimmed with white, and has a set of42 chimes.
