English: Site of Floriston station, 1991.
View SE, towards Carlisle and the South: ex-Caledonian Railway Carlisle - Glasgow, Edinburgh etc., West Coast Main Line, electrified 1974. Most of the first nine miles out of Carlisle to Gretna Junction were only double-track and as they also carried the ex-G&SWR main line traffic, this was and remains an exceptionally busy section and it is remarkable how they managed, even after the two intermediate wayside stations, Rockcliffe and Floriston, were closed in July 1950.
