| Description |
English: Southern Pacific Railroad Station in Van Nuys surrounded by water during the flood of February 18-20, 1914. Flooding was common in the San Fernando Valley before the area was well settled. After the roads were paved, which absorbed and reflected heat, and vegetation was planted, the climate seemed to become more moderate. Flood control channels were later constructed and greatly reduced the threat of flooding. Black and white photograph. 7.5 x 9.5 in. |
