DescriptionFlock of cranes feeding on harvested fields in Northern Germany (I).jpg
English: In autumn, gigantic numbers of cranes (Grus grus) gather in the northern federal states of Germany to rest and prepare for the long journey to the south. In some places such as the Günzer lake in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern the birds are fed by wheat that has been scattered the night before. This is gladly accepted as a food source also by large flocks of starlings.
