The new Swindon takes shape - One of the first new developments in the town centre in the 1960's was the construction of Fleming Way and the Parade shopping centre which linked this road with Bridge Street & Regent Street. At the Fleming Way end was the Bon Marche department store [later Debenhams] with a hotel development behind [Wiltshire Hotel]. Above the department store is a number of floors of office accomodation, first used by Hambro Life/Allied Dunbar and then Zurich Financial Services.
