Description
English: The maquis of Sylla was set up in Burgundy, near the village of Cortevaix, located 10 km north of Cluny. Major Guy d'Artois, officer in the Canadian Special Operation Executive, was dropped by parachute in Cortevaix in 1944. The Major's nickname was Dieudonné but he was mostly known in the area as Michel le Canadien. He organized a maquis with 600 partisans and set up a 800 km phone network.

After the Liberation, Major d'Artois was awarded by General de Gaulle the highest military decoration of the Second World War, the Croix de Guerre (War Cross) with palms.

The flag used by the maquis of Sylla is shown in the Museum of the 22nd Royal Regiment in Canada. The flag was offered to Major Guy d'Artois by members of the Resistance as a tribute to his contribution and dedication to the French Resistance.

Français : Le maquis de Sylla a été mis en place en Bourgogne, près du village de Cortevaix, situé à 10 km au nord de Cluny. Major Guy d'Artois, officier dans l'exécutif des opérations spéciales du Canada, a été parachuté dans Cortevaix en 1944. Le Major surnom était Dieudonné mais il était surtout connu dans la région comme Michel le Canadien . Il a organisé un maquis de 600 partisans et mettre en place un réseau de 800 km de téléphone.

Après la Libération, le major d'Artois a été attribué par le général de Gaulle la décoration plus militaire de la Seconde Guerre mondiale, la Croix de Guerre (Croix de Guerre) avec des palmiers .

Le drapeau utilisé par le maquis de Sylla est présentée dans le Musée du 22e Régiment royal du Canada. Le drapeau a été offert à Guy d'Artois Major par les membres de la Résistance comme un hommage à sa contribution et son dévouement à la Résistance française.
