| Description |
English: Figure 9 of paper Bipalium kewense, reproduction by scissiparity—the shed tail fragment. The free tail fragment is immediately motile. It develops a head and pharynx within seven to 10 days, and within two to three weeks it is adult in form and behaviour. Asexual reproduction in B. kewense and some other land planarians is considered to underlie the colonizing success of these species. Photo by Pierre Gros. |
