Description
English: Melbourne, Victoria, 1950-09-16. In a ceremony at Heidelberg repatriation hospital the Governor General, Rt Hon W.J. McKell, presented on behalf of His Majesty the King, the field marshal's baton to Field Marshal Sir Thomas Blamey, GBE, KCB, CMG, DSO. Distinguished guests included the Governor of Victoria, Sir Dallas Brooks; the Prime Minister, Rt Hon R.G. Menzies, together with cabinet ministers, senior defence force officers, Lady Blamey and relatives.
