Description
English: A Farman is an imperial directive. During the Mughal period, farmans in the name of the emperor, bearing the imperial seal and, sometimes also, imperial symbols were issued. Jalal-ud-Din Mohammad Akbar credited for many victorious and perhaps most importantly, a period of religious and cultural tolerance. The Farmans issued by Emperor Akbar were very functional and institutional in veneer. It is a statement rendered potent by the emperor's seal or Mohra (small circular stamp) above and is now faded. The text is in Taliq, language used is Persian.
This Farman of Jalal-al-Din Muhammad Akbar is written in Persian in taliq script. It states the declaration of 650 bigahs land (a unit of measure) around Karba Sandila Sarkar in Lucknow being given to Shaikh Sa'd Allah. This Farman is a reconfirmation of an earlier granted this piece of land to Shaikh Sa'd Allah to be in his possession thorough out his lifetime.
