Summary
| Description |
c/n 565 Built in 1943 for the US military with the serial 43-14601. Shipped to the UK and operated for the 8th Air Force on communications duties. Demobbed in 1946 and civil registered as G-AIZE in 1947. With various owners and operators she remained flying in the UK until 1966, when she was dismantled and stored. She was purchased by the RAF Museum in 1973 but still remained in store. In 1997 she was taken to Rochester for complete restoration by the Medway Aircraft Preservation Society. Painted to represent an RAF Argus II ‘FS628’ which served in the Far East, the completed restoration was unveiled at Cosford in June 1999. She is currently on display in Hangar 1 at the RAF Museum Cosford, Shropshire, UK. 14th August 2016 |
