Summary

Description	English: Medal for Distinction during Special Operations of the Federal Security Service (ex KGB). Instituted on 4 October 2001 by Order of the FSB number 524. Awarded to military and civilian personnel of the Federal Security Service for their outstanding achievements and distinction in the planning and execution of special operations crucial to the security of the Russian Federation. Awarded with swords only for direct participation when military or special weapons were used. The back of the medal is plain with the simple inscription "FSB of Russia".
