Description

Postcard photo, possibly of King's Hall, Herne Bay, Kent, England. This could be the grand opening of the King's Hall in 1913, or possibly a recruitment event at King's Hall for World War I. The postcard is unused and not postmarked. The photographer was Fred C. Palmer of Tower Studio, Herne Bay, Kent 1903-1922, who is believed to have died 1936-1939.

Points of interest: (1) the building canopy, top right corner, says "Town" - possibly town hall? (2) the two men chatting in the road at the back appear to have a camera on tripod between them; (3) one of the men among the top hats inspecting the ranks has "beadle" written on his cap; (4) a few soldiers appear to be glancing back towards the camera with alarm.

This print has darkened with age, but it would be inappropriate to adjust the brightness because detail would be lost.
