English: FAO Ceres Medal - Sophia Loren - Silver Reverse
A silver version of the Sophia Loren medal. This medal is 68mm in diameter and is the heaviest of all Ceres medals that FAO produced. This medal weighs 7.9 oz (224.1 g). The artist’s name (G. Simon) appears on the obverse at about 3 o’clock. The edge on this medal is dated 1974. A hallmark in included on the edge also. The medal is unnumbered. The fineness is not identified on the medal, only in the literature.
Obverse: Sophia Loren portrait with words "FAO CERES ROME"
Reverse: Twenty ears of wheat, one for each year of FAO in Italy, superimposed on the meridians of a globe. Dated 1951-1971.
