Summary
Eurozone in 2007
Dark Green: current Eurozone countries which are full members of the EMU.
Blue: ERM II members
Brown: non-Eurozone EU members
Orange: countries and Kosovo that use the Euro officially or unilaterally but that are not members of the EMU and the ECB.
Light Green: non-EU members with currencies pegged to the Euro, but not members of the EMU and the ECB.
Notes
the "microstates" (Andorre, Monaca, San-Marino, Vatican) use the Euro officially, but are NOT part of the EMU. Only Andorra uses it officially, but without formal agreement with the European Commission, unlike other states.
Romania still does not use the Euro and is still not part of the ERM II system, unlike Bulgaria and other new members. Slovenia was part of the ERM II system and now uses the Euro and is a full member of the EMU.
Switzerland is a special case with a secondary currency (the "SWIFT euro") pegged to the euro, but only for financial private markets. It is not marked here because its main official currency (the Swiss Franc) is not pegged to the Euro.
