Dansk: Bemalet ler. Kina, Kanton, 1731. 39 cm, 32 cm, 41 cm, 36 cm h. Europæere i Kanton. De to figurer til venstre forestiller kaptajn Michael Tønder og den ledende handelsagent (supercargo) Pieter van Hurk. De blev sammen med andre besætningsmedlemmer på den danske kinafarer "Kronprins Christian" portrætteret i Kanton i 1731. Michael Tønder, der er iført rød frakke og paryk, var Tordenskjolds våbenfælle i Store Nordiske Krig (1700-1721). I krigen mistede han det ene ben og er derfor udstyret med en stok. Van Hurk er iført slåbrok og nathue. Han var hollænder, men gjorde karriere i Danmark. I 1732 var han medstifter af Asiatisk Kompagni og 1745-1754 dets direktør. De to figurer til venstre forestiller henholdsvis 2. supercargo Peter Muhle og 3. supercargo Jochim Severin Bonsach. Beskrevet af cand.mag, Bente Gundestrup, 2016. |
