English: This portrait is one of at least 6 identical oil paintings that came from the studio of Jean-Baptiste van Loo in around 1738. The date has been deduced from a mirror image woodcut of the same painting in the National Trust collection Template:Https://www.nationaltrustcollections.org.uk/object/286774, inscribed on the rear “Given to T. Lawson at St. John’s Cottage, Cambridge April 20th 1739”, suggesting that the original painting “after van Loo” is likely to predate 1739. Original painting in private collection
