El escudo de San Jerónimo tiene todas las características de los escudos españoles del siglo XVII, tal como corresponde a uno de los pueblos fundados por don Francisco Herrera Campuzano. Es de forma cortinada, lo que viene a significar que está dividido en tres cuarteles, así: 1. El cuartel diestro es de plata y está cargado con la imagen de Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria, tal como aparece en el escudo de la capital de Antioquia[...]. 2. El cuartel izquierdo es de gules (rojo) y está cargado con un cedro de plata[...]. 3. La barba es una representación del pueblo mismo, regido por el Sol y recostado sobre la Cordillera Central de los Andes, siempre coronada por nieves perpetuas.[...] [1]
