Summary

Description Photo of Ernie Kovacs getting into makeup and also in full makeup for three of the many characters he portrayed in the television program The U.S. Steel Hour. This presentation was called "Private Eye-Private Eye". Kovacs is shown as a butler (upper right), a skin diver (lower left), and Santa Claus (lower right).
Date The press release says the program was to air March 8. There is a date stamp on the back for 2 March 1961, and the shoe did air on CBS-TV on 8 March 1961.

Author U.S. Steel, who was the sponsor of the U.S. Steel Hour. In the 1950s and 1960s, it was not unusual for a network, studio, or sponsor to use an advertising agency or a public relations agency to distribute publicity material. U.S. Steel chose the firm of Advance Public Relations, Inc. to distribute these photos and press releases.
