Shield of The Episcopal Church (of the USA), TEC, www.anglican.ecusa.org, 10/07/06, TEC,
Shield of The Episcopal Church (TEC), is a Cross of St. George (denoting TEC's roots in the Church of England), a blue canton (from the flag of the USA), with nine crosslets (denoting the nine original dioceses of TEC) arranged in a Cross of St. Andrew (signifying TEC's gratitude to the Scottish Episcopal Church which consecrated TEC's first bishops when post-Revolutionary War tensions with England were still raw).
