Summary

Description
English: Fireweed (Epilobium angustifolium, now Chamerion angustifolium), late-summer flower-stalk with leaves below and seed-pods in several stages: intact, straight, purple seed-pods at top of stalk, strongly curved open seed-pods, and nearly-open pods with seeds in the process of expanding their white parachutes to become airborne. At 9,700 ft (3,000 m) along the Blue Lake trail above Lake Sabrina, John Muir Wilderness, Sierra Nevada mountains, California USA.
