Description
Español: El lienzo representa la entrada del mercenario de origen italiano Roger de Flor en la ciudad de Constantinopla al frente de sus mercernarios catalanes, que en conjunto eran conocidos como la Gran Compañía Catalana, para socorrer al emperador bizantino Andrónico II Paleólogo en su lucha contra los turcos otomanos. En 1303 Roger de Flor se puso al servicio del mencionado emperador con el propósito de ayudarle y al mando de una expedición de 4000 almogávares, 1500 soldados de caballería y 39 naves enviada por Federico II de Sicilia, (la Gran Compañía Catalana). Y al entrar en la capital del Imperio Bizantino Roger de Flor desfiló al mando de los almogávares, que le tenían una gran estima, ante el emperador, y hallándose al frente de sus hombres aniquiló a los genoveses de Constantinopla y posteriormente se dirigió a Anatolia y tomó las ciudades de Filadelfia, Magnesia y Éfeso, rechazando a los turcos hasta Cilicia y los Tauro (1304), y siempre en batallas libradas con una inferioridad numérica destacada por su parte.
