English: Center passageway through Empire Stores connecting Water Street to the open-air courtyard by the waterfront. New York City-based architecture firm Studio V Architecture converted the previously abandoned Civil War era coffeehouse into a mixed-use development consisting of office, commercial, and retail space. The renovation was completed in 2017. A few of the retailers located here are West Elm's global flagship store, Detroit-based watchmaker Shinola, and the café and accessories store, FEED Projects.
