Summary

Description Hand-coloured mezzotint, The Embassy of Hyderbeck to Calcutta, from the Vizier of Oude, by way of Patna, in the Year 1788, to meet Lord Cornwallis. The European figure in the howdah on the elephant to the right is John Kennaway, who attended Haidar Beg Khan, chief minister of Oudh, on his embassy to Cornwallis, travelling from Lucknow to Calcutta.
