Koska hän halusi jatkaa lentämistä myös sodan jälkeen, joutui hän Saksan lentokiellon takia ostamaan koneen Sveitsistä (kuvan amerikkalaisvalmisteisen Piper J-3C-65 Cub -koneen, rekisteritunnukseltaan HB-OAM) ja lentämään sillä, kunnes pystyi rekisteröimään koneen Saksan rekisteriin.
