English: Poland Fighter (German: Polenkämpfer), painted by Franz Eichhorst, German war artist, purchased by Adolf Hitler for 4,000 RM. Original painting at Army Art Collection of the U.S. Army Center of Military History. Painting showing a soldier in Wehrmacht Heer, the army of Nazi Germany, during the Poland campaign (German: Überfall auf Polen, Polenfeldzug) 1 September 1939 – 6 October 1939, which marked the beginning of World War II.
