This pricing trend can be traced to July 1917, per report by Bureau of Labor Statistics, annual report by Milk Committee of the NYC Mayor's Office from December 1917, and NY Times article from June 30, 1917. Also, reference to Billy Sunday, who had just finished his NYC Campaign at end of June.
