| Purpose of use |
It is the logo of a Western Hockey League (WHL) team, which retains the copyright. This is a low-resolution image that does not infringe on the team's ability to use the logo for commercial purposes. On the main Edmonton Oil Kings page it illustrates the logo that is currently used by the team. On individual season pages it illustrates the logo that was in use for that particular season. The image is placed in the infobox at the top of the Edmonton Oil Kings article, a subject of public interest. The significance of the logo is to help the reader identify the organization, assure the readers that they have reached the right article containing critical commentary about the hockey team, and illustrate the franchise's intended branding message in a way that words alone could not convey. |
