There is an August 1952 date stamp, but the NBC copy on the back says this begins Benny's 15th year on radio and 35th year in show business. Benny began on radio in 1932; this would date the image as being from 1947. In 1949, the Benny radio show left NBC for CBS.

The image was meant to bring attention and publicity for the personalities pictured, the program he/she was part of and the network it was on, the same as the publicity photos for actors and actresses in the film industry were intended to do.

"Publicity photos (star headshots) have traditionally not been copyrighted. Since they are disseminated to the public, they are generally considered public domain, and therefore clearance by the studio that produced them is not necessary."
