Biggest Man In Football Signs With Hartford. Eddie Keenan, 320 Pound Guard, Joins Blues. Gildea Also Signs. Hartford's professional Blues yesterday made room plenty of room for the largest man now playing football, Eddie Keenan. the little 320 pound guard from Waterbury who played for Washington College at Chestertown, Maryland, and was all-Maryland tackle for three years. Eddie's arrival on the field without a uniform caused something of a riot and the soldiers went so far as to produce pup tents, all of which were too light for him. While Eddie played at guard on the Armory grounds the tackle at his side stood in Charter Oak Park. Gudea Signs. The arrival of Keenan was a big thing In many ways but there were other matters of interest. George Conklin, former star at Ansonia High and Holy Cross, Joined the squad and Frank Sickler of Chicago, once at Suffield and later well known In pro football, put in an appearance. Dinny Gildea, former center and captain at Holy Cross and coach of the Everett, Mass., High School this season, signed papers and will report Saturday. Two squads worked throughout the two sessions at the grounds of the new armory. Shrimp Foley handled one and Grattan O'Connell the other with Ernie McCann in charge of the drlU. Coach Keough will return for the workout Friday morning but has ordered McCann to stage a scrimmage hour Thursday. The teams lined up as follows for the purpose of learning signals and working under punts: Foleys O'Nell. center: Keenan and O'Connor, guards: Noble and Conklln. tackles; 8egerett and Friedman, ends. Foley, McEvoy, Zeher and Barnlkow, backs. , O'Connells Bonldese, center: Mc-Cormlck and Mills, guards: Scott and Donlan, tackles: O'Connell and Dum. Ends; Ryan. Radovitch. O'Brien and moynihan, backs. Gridiron Ready. m, v.ionrnme eridlron Will be ready for the first game Sunday, an exhibition contest witn me nvi Hospital eleven from Brooklyn, a 4am mri one that has had more than two weeks of training. The Naval squad will comprise 28 men and will arrive here Sunday morning. Well turfed and seeded, the Velodrome awalta only a last-minute rolling to make It a perfect battleground. The management announces that the advance sale of season tickets has been surprising, indicating a tremendous Interest in the National League teams.
