[edit]Description | Picture of Lauren Halsey's interactive sculpture the eastside of south central los angeles hieroglyph prototype architecture (I) (2023) on the roof garden of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, in 2023. A large white box-like pavilion made of concrete is situated on the museum's roof, with two large columns visible in the right and left, and a large white sphinx sculpture visible on the left. The entire surface of each sculpture is decorated with etched drawings, faces, names, logos, and phrases associated with Halsey's community in South Central Los Angeles. Several white benches are visible in the center of the small plaza at the front of the pavilion, and several buildings and trees are visible beyond the installation. |
