Summary

Description
English: The Crimean War Pear Celebrations. A painting hangs from the front portico of the Town Hall, lit by gas burners. In the centre, PEACE holds an olive branch and globe, to the left a lion and lamb represent tranquillity, figures of AGRICULTURE stand with vegetables, MUSIC, LYRES and POETRY are also used. A seaport shows the prosperity from peace. On the right of PEACE, a snapped sword, the crown of victory, JUSTICE holds a balance, UNITY a bundle of rods. A veil hides the figure of War from Peace. The arms of Salford and the Duchy of Lancaster are represented along with the Royal coat of arms. Above the building fly the flags of France, Turkey, Sardinia and Russia, with Britain in the middle.
